This course may be 100% funded by the One Stop Center or via the OPG Grant for those who qualify, and you could earn while you learn by collecting unemployment benefits.

Prerequisites

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Interest in working with special needs children

  • Ability to pass background check

  • Moderate computer skills including Internet, Google Platform

Career

  • RBT in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis
  • Behavior Technician with starting salary of $22 per hour

  • ABA private Agencies, School Districts, Group homes, Non-profit Agencies and More!!

  • RBT salary ranges from $25 to $30 per hour

Certification Process

prerequisites for obtaining the RBT certification are:

  • Age Requirement: must be over 18 years of age

  • Educational Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent (via transcript)

  • Criminal Background Check:

    • Must be provided prior to starting the 6-week training program
    • Fingerprint background check is required after completing the training program (procedure will be provided)
    • Cost: $19.95 (student’s responsibility; non-reimbursable)
  • 6-Week Training:

    • Training meets the RBT Task List 2.0 requirements
    • Provided by Florida State University FIT Program – you earn your RBT40 hour credential from a University
  • Competency Assessment:

    • Two-part competency assessment conducted by Continuum Behavioral Health.
  • RBT Exam:

    • Must be taken at one of 400+ Pearson VUE Testing Centers
    • RBT Application Fee: $65.00 (retain receipt for reimbursement)
    • Testing Fee: $45.00 (refundable upon providing test results)
    • T.Byrd Center will reimburse the testing fee once, even if you fail. Additional attempts are the student’s responsibility

All work, including lessons and homework, are incorporated into the weekly schedule, however if not completed during school hours you must complete as homework.

Access to the internet through a reliable device (computer, cell phone/tablet for video recording). All software programs will be provided

You MUST have a laptop or dekstop computer with internet connection and printer. Chromebooks may be used.

T.Byrd Center has several Employer Partners who will hire our students who successfully complete the training program. In addition the curriculum includes our Career Development modules and Work Readiness Development modules. These training modules are completed during weeks 5 and 6, however job search begins in week 1. The TByrd Center continues to provide support and job search assistance/partnering with ABA companies and school districts that are currently hiring. The average hourly pay rate ranges from $20 to $25 per hour as a Behavior Technician and $25 to $30 for Registered Behavior Technicians.

The RBT training program is FREE to those who qualify for a grant, however, you will be responsible for the cost of the background check at the cost of $19.95. In addition you must pay for your RBT registration which is $65. in week 3 and then your Exam fee of $45. when scheduled. The total amount is reimbursed when you take the RBT Exam.
